JOSEPHINE MARIA VENUTO

Josephine Venuto, 85, of Montgomery Village, MD passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013. The beloved wife of the late Frank V. Venuto, Sr., she was mother to her sons and daughters-in-law Dominic A. (Deborah Carter), Nicola (LuAnne), and Frank V. (Bryn) Venuto; Grandmother, or “Nona” to Joseph Vincent, Nicole, and Paul A. Venuto, and Meredith and Makenzie Deener. She was the sister of Paolo and the late Frank Anthony Casadonte; and survived by sisters-in-law Maria and Rosetta Casadonte. She is aunt or “Zia” to nephews and nieces both in America and Italy. “Nona” as she was affectionately called had many friends whom she loved as her own and treated as family. SUMNER GRIGGS HEIDEL (Age 96)

On Sunday, March 24, 2013 of Silver Spring, MD. Predeceased by his beloved wife Tommie Heidel and his sons James and David. Survived by his grandchildren Andrew Heidel, Anne H. Kapoor, Emilie and Amanda Heidel; by daughters-in-law Patricia and Laura Heidel; and three great-granddaughters. Robert Eddy Cowdery (Age 86)

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Riderwood Community.  He was from  Canon City, Colorado.  Beloved husband of Joyce Cowdery; father of Cris (Bill) Walker, Dan (Kathi) Cowdery, Tom (Brenda) Cowdery, Andy (Bonnie) Cowdery , Matt (Evelyn) Cowdery, Pat (John) Cowdery, Tim (deceased) Cowdery, Barb Cowdery.  Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren,  brother Richard (Lee) Cowdery and lots of great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Gladys Cowdery and one brother George (Donna) Cowdery.   He participated as a member of the Navy during WWII; graduated from University of Colorado and spent his working career as an engineer for Westinghouse.  A celebration of his life is to be held at a future date.

JAMES EDWARD MRAZEK

COL US Army (Retired)/Author

On Saturday, March 16, 2013 of Washington, DC. During WWII, he helped develop and organize glider infantry operations and served in Europe. After the war, he was Army Military Attaché in Prague, served on staffs in Europe, Korea, and the Pentagon, and on the faculty of the Command and General Staff College. He is the author of four books on military history. Beloved husband of Thelma Stevens Mrazek; father of James E. Mrazek, Jr. LT. Col US Air Force (Retired) of Sacramento, CA and the late Joanne Clarke; grandfather of Randy and Terri Clarke. Also survived by two nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to coincide with Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium with Full Honors. THOMAS J. GRINNALDS

Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2013, in Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Vera Grinnalds; father of Robin A. Grinnalds and Carol G. (Todd A.) Peterson; grandfather of Dylan G. Fox, Alexis J. Peterson and Bailey A. Fox. He was born June 11, 1924 in Bloxom, VA. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star. Graduated Virginia Tech in 1950; worked for many years as an engineer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. Funeral services will be private.
